Bright futures await the winners of the
Tenth Furla Art Award
Maria Iorio and Raphael Cuomo have been named this year’s winners of the Tenth Edition of the coveted Furla Art Award. In the elegant Sala delle Otto Colonne at Palazzo Reale, Domenico Piraina, Director of Palazzo Reale, delivered the opening remarks followed by speakers including, Giovanna Furlanetto, President of Fondazione Furla, Chiara Bertola, Curator of the Premio Furla, and Vanessa Beecroft, guiding artist for the tenth edition of the award.
The jury stated in their decision, “We wanted to reward artists who would have the potential to benefit from the opportunities offered by the award: a 3-month residency in Mexico City, an group exhibition in Milan in March 2015 and the production of a new artwork.”
A pleasant surprise was announced when, for the first time in the history of the Furla Art Award, the jury granted an honorable mention to one of the five finalists, Gian Maria Tosatti, who will be rewarded a period of residency at the Los Angeles studio of Vanessa Beecroft, the guiding artist for this year’s award and chair of the jury.
